Season 2026

The rules

Pick eleven players from the BHCC squad. Earn points based on what they actually do across the season. Highest total wins.

Selection

Your XI must contain exactly 11 players from the BHCC squad. Every rule below has to pass at submission and after every substitution.

Composition

  • Adult Men: maximum 6
  • Youth Men & Women (under 17): minimum 3
  • Women (Adult or Youth): minimum 2
  • Wicket-keepers: minimum 1
  • Overseas players: maximum 1

Pot quotas

  • Pot A: 1 to 3
  • Pot B: 1 to 3
  • Pot C: minimum 2
  • Pot D: minimum 2
  • Pot E: minimum 2

Pots, demographic and wicket-keeper status are set on each squad player and shown on the player picker. Inactive players (injured or absent) are still selectable but won't score if they don't play.

Batting points

  • 1 point per run scored
  • 10-point bonus when a player reaches 50
  • 25-point bonus when a player reaches 100 (replaces the 50 bonus β€” a century is worth 25 in milestone bonuses on top of the runs, not 35)

Bowling points

  • 10 points per wicket
  • 2 points per maiden over
  • 10-point bonus for taking 3 wickets in an innings
  • 25-point bonus for taking 5 wickets in an innings (replaces the 3-fer bonus β€” a five-for is worth 25 in milestone bonuses on top of the wickets, not 35)

Fielding points

  • 5 points per catch
  • 5 points per run-out (the BHCC fielder credited with the dismissal)
  • 5 points per stumping

Awards

  • Player of the Match: 10-point bonus
  • Shared Player of the Match: 5 points each (when the coach or captain decides there are two standout performances)
  • Spirit of Cricket: 10-point bonus, awarded in youth matches only

Multipliers

Every match has a multiplier that depends on who's playing in it and what level it is. The multiplier applies once per (player, match) pair and never stacks.

  • 1.25Γ— when a Youth player (Men or Women) plays an adult match, or when an Adult Woman plays in a men's match. Rewards playing up levels.
  • 0.5Γ— on the per-event points (runs, wickets, maidens, fielding) in a youth match. Achievement bonuses (50, 100, 3-fer, 5-fer, Player of the Match, Spirit of Cricket) are credited at full value, not halved.
  • 1.0Γ— in every other case (Adult Men in men's matches, Adult Women in women's matches, etc.).

Worked example: a Youth Woman doesn't bat, but takes 4-for-12 with one maiden in an under-13 match. Per-event points = 0 + (4 Γ— 10) + 2 = 42, halved to 21. Bonuses = 10 (3-fer). Final fantasy total = 31.

Eligible matches

Burgess Hill hardball matches that BHCC players appear in count towards fantasy scoring. Non-eligible fixtures (Sunday socials, indoor cricket, inter-club friendlies and Slam) do not. The admin marks each match as eligible or ignored.

A match has to be marked as scored by the admin before its points appear on the leaderboard. Points are recomputed automatically when stats, awards, or substitutions change.

Substitutions and transfer windows

There are three substitution windows during the season, one at the end of each of May, June and July. You can swap up to three players out and three players in during each window. Composition rules must still pass after each individual swap, and substitutions take effect on the day the window closes.

The full self-serve transfers experience will be live ahead of the first transfer window.

Late entries

Teams submitted after the season start only score from their submission date, so getting in early matters.

Cup competitions

Three cup competitions run alongside the regular league, all auto-enrolled β€” your fantasy team is in every one. Head-to-head fixtures each round, your weekend's intrinsic fantasy points versus your opponent's. Top score advances. Achievement bonuses still count. Full details on the Cups page.

The BHPL β€” Burgess Hill Premier League

  • Format: Snake-drafted group stage (18 groups of mostly 4 teams, seeded by your live main-league position) followed by a 32-team knockout (all group winners + the top runners-up across all groups). With the current 70 entrants the snake-draft produces 16 groups of 4 and 2 short groups of 3; two more entrants would round it to a perfect 18 Γ— 4.
  • Window: 6 June to 25 July. Three-week group stage (each team plays the other three in their group), then a 32-team knockout from 27 June: R32, R16, QF, SF, Final. Final on Sat 25 July.
  • Roster locks: Friday 5 June. Whoever's in your XI on that day is your BHPL squad for the whole cup. Transfers in the June and July windows still count for the regular league and the BH Cup, but your BHPL roster stays as it was on 5 June.
  • Match scope: only points scored in adult men's and women's Saturday/Sunday league games count. Friendlies, youth fixtures and weekday games don't contribute. The cup itself is open to every verified fantasy team β€” the β€œadult league” rule is about which matches score, not who can enter.

Quirks (all designed to reward how you build your team, not how players perform on the pitch):

  • Differential-pick multiplier: any player you've picked who's currently selected by fewer than 15% of all fantasy teams scores Γ—1.25 in BHPL matches.
  • All-pots-firing bonus: +20 to your fixture score if at least one of your players from each of Pot A, B, C, D and E scored that weekend.
  • Squad-depth breakthrough: any Pot D or Pot E player who scores 30+ runs OR takes 2+ wickets in a single innings gets a +10 bonus on top of their normal points.
  • Match-winner bonus: each of your selected players who was in a winning BHCC team that weekend gets +5.

The BH Junior Festival

  • Format: Five weekly rounds aligned to the Sussex JCF festival calendar. Cumulative scoring β€” top total at the end wins.
  • Window: 27 July to 30 August.
  • Match scope: only the official Sussex JCF festival fixtures count. Junior league matches, friendlies, and any other youth cricket happening in those same weeks don't contribute.
  • Player scope: only the youth players in your XI score. Adult players contribute nothing.

The BH Cup

  • Format: Pure knockout. Seven rounds (Prelim, R64, R32, R16, QF, SF, Final). All verified teams in the draw.
  • Draw: fully random, made on Saturday 18 July β€” one week before round one. League position counts for nothing.
  • Window: 25 July to 5 September. Final on the last Saturday of the cricket season.
  • Quirks: standard scoring, no quirks. Just outscore your opponent.

Tiebreaker

If two teams score identically on cup-fixture day, the team with the better current main-league rank advances.

Auto-enrolment

Every verified fantasy team is in every cup, no signup needed. Teams added before a cup's draw date slot straight into the bracket on draw day. Teams added after a cup's draw is made aren't inserted mid-tournament β€” they wait until the next cup.
